Have you driven Capitol Ave between Forrest and Laurel recently? Many Hartford commuters and students travel this corridor daily. Until recently, it has been a disheartening mess. Thanks to the efforts of over 100 volunteers, including a group of enthusiastic volunteers from Ikon who came together on September 26, this stretch of Capitol Ave is becoming a Corridor of Hope.

Leadership Greater Hartford's Impact

Leadership Greater Hartford has had a long-lasting and significant effect on our region.  We have developed leadership skills in over 4,500 teens, employees, executives, and retirees.  We bring disparate sectors together in projects, events and discussions to address community concerns.

Participants become aware of their own capabilities and skilled at understanding others.  They learn about issues and how to work collaboratively. They participate in the community and take on meaningful leadership roles.

Employers benefit as employees gain experience and confidence in working with diverse teams to accomplish challenging goals.  Leadership Greater Hartford connects people to the community in a unique way, helping retain valuable employees.

The community gains a growing corps of dedicated leaders who bridge political, economic, racial, and geographic differences.  They help others understand that the city and suburbs are interdependent and share a common future.  Class projects lead to visible and sustainable community improvement.  Our graduates perform volunteer work, run for office, serve on nonprofit boards, and mentor future leaders.
