The Latest Conference News
As we get closer to April, we will be continually adding new information to our website about the upcoming "Experience the Art of Leadership" Community Leadership Association Conference. Here's a glimpse of what we've added this week:
We are deeply appreciative of the 50 members who have already committed to help us put Hartford's best foot forward during the conference by donating their time. We are one-third of the way toward our goal! If you can offer your time (typically in four-hour intervals) sometime between Thursday, April 27 and Sunday, April 30, please click here to let us know how you can help.
Only 10 seats left for Science center preview!
If you are interested in joining other dues-paying members for an insider's look at the plans for the Connecticut Center for Science and Exploration, please act quickly. We can only accommodate about 10 more members.
This event will take place on February 22, from 6-8 p.m. in The Phoenix's Board Room, at the top of the "boat building", for a birds-eye view of what's on the horizon. Matt Fluery, Executive Vice President & COO of CCSE, will give us a preview of the Center's exhibits and offerings, and insights into the important role the Center will play in the area. Cocktails and hors d'houerves provided.
All 2006 dues-paying members, Lifetime and Leadership Circle members are invited. Click here to reserve your seat. If you are not yet a dues-paying member, contact Stacie Rabinowitz at 951-6161, x16 to pay your dues today, so you can join us.
Quest 2006 is off and running
This year's class is another great coalition of corporate, small business, government, and nonprofit leaders. Who are they? Click here to view the Quest 2006 roster. They had a very successful retreat in January, resulting in class members forming four teams, working with the following organizations:
Based on the positive feedback from last year's class, Rita Ortiz again presented class members with project proposals that were submitted by area nonprofit organizations, enabling the teams to expend more time planning and implementing their projects.
Yesterday, the class toured the city, exploring and being introduced to the many highlights and challenges, as well as enjoying a great lunch at the Rajun Cajun.
Get ready to put on your bowling shoes
Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters (NBBBS), our partner in LGH's Linking Lives Campaign, is gearing up for their signature fundraising event, Bowl for Kids' Sake (click here to read more). Jennifer Loughran, Quest 2003, is working with NBBBS to help them recruit individuals and teams to participate in the event, on Saturday, April 1, at AMF Silver Lanes in East Hartford. If you join as an individual or join a team, Jennifer has pledged $5 toward each LGH member's fundraising efforts. NBBBS is also looking for volunteers to coordinating recruiting teams. If you can assist with this, or are interested in participating in the event, contact Jennifer at LoughranJK@comcast.net.
