Scala & Associates, LLC Celebrates First Anniversary

Scala & Associates, LLC, a full service fundraising consulting firm and proud member of Leadership Greater Hartford, has experienced explosive growth this past year. The firm works with numerous regional nonprofits and helps them realize their individual goals.  “I launched this business in 2007 after nearly 20 years in the field and it has truly been an experience filled with challenges, excitement and successes beyond what I had imagined,” said Scot Scala, President of Scala & Associates.

The firm’s expertise in fundraising has resulted in a lot of smiling faces at many of the region’s top nonprofits.  One of the firm’s clients, Prudence Crandall Center, has seen success in their capital campaign which will enable them to move to a new facility.  Most recently, Scala & Associates helped the organization receive a $500,000 grant award and additional grants, totaling $605,000.  Other clients like the American Red Cross Charter Oak Chapter have benefited from overall grant administration and database coordination; while Rebuilding Together Hartford surpassed its fiscal year fundraising goals with a comprehensive organizational capacity building plan.

An Evening of Jazz at Cedar Hill


(Posted 8/6/08) - Bring your chairs, blankets and picnic baskets for An Evening of Jazz at Cedar Hill featuring the Steve Lord Quintet and Tony Allen Quintet on Saturday, August 23 from 6 pm - 8:30 pm. Rain date: Sunday, August 24 from 6 pm - 8:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for CHCF members, $15 for nonmembers.

Tony Allen grew up in Hartford's East Side in the 1930s and '40s and received much praise in 2003 for his second album and title track "I Remember Front Street." Attendees will enjoy a fabulous evening of jazz under the August evening sky surrounded by Cedar Hill's incomparable memorial grounds. Rising Star Breakfast Features Progress Report on Hartford Public School Reform

Judith Green Named Director of Development for YWCA


(Posted 6/6/08) -The YWCA of the Hartford Region is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director of Development, Judith Green. Judith is a seasoned fundraising, marketing and public relations professional with many years of experience working with non-profits in the Hartford area. She joined the YWCA team on May 19, 2008.

Prior to coming to the YWCA, Judith was the Executive Director of Trust House Family Learning Center in Hartford. Her experience also includes serving as Executive Director of Artworks Gallery in Hartford, and the Cheshire and Greater Waterbury YMCA’s. Her career has come full circle - Judith was the Fitness Director of the Hartford YWCA upon graduating from CCSU. “I have fond memories of teaching tennis, aerobic classes, and other activities in the YW gymnasium; especially memorable was teaching the first Pilates fitness program in Connecticut. The YWCA has always held a special place in my heart; it is humbling to come back to my roots. What an honor to once again serve this remarkable organization, I look forward to working with a great team dynamic.”

Judith holds dual BS degrees from Central Connecticut State University. As a graduate of the Executive Management Institute and Authenticity Leaders Circle of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, and the American Leadership Forum Class XXII with Leadership Greater Hartford, she will bring a wealth of leadership capabilities to her new position.
