The Executive Orientation Program offers a convenient, condensed and affordable introduction to the people, places and possibilities of Greater Hartford. It is designed for senior level executives who are relatively new to the area, and others recently promoted to top jobs requiring more community connection.
Through five sessions featuring tours, speakers and intimate dinner discussions, executives establish themselves in the community by learning about Greater Hartford’s history, economy, politics, and cultural offerings. A Saturday morning and alternating Wednesday mornings and evenings over the four-weeks of May fit the experience neatly into the busy schedule of executives.
Build your network, get the lay of the land and understand the issues facing the Greater Hartford region. Learn who the key players are and meet several of them. Understand current trends and challenges in the region’s economy, education, jobs, housing, and the arts. You will make valuable contacts in your small group and be welcomed as part of Leadership Greater Hartford’s network of over 3,500 business and community leaders.

The program is designed to make participants feel at home quickly and establish collaborative relationships with other senior leaders. Here is what some recent participants had to say about the program:
“An outstanding opportunity to learn about the area’s gems: parks, arts, historic sites, as well as network with high energy engaged leaders.”
Jim Blazar, Senior Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer, Hartford Hospital
“The Program is an excellent way to learn about Greater Hartford from almost every angle: From its history and cultural institutions to the ways it is working to sustain itself and build for the future. It’s a well balanced program that provides a good foundation, particularly for those trying to figure out how to get involved.”
Michael Klein,Senior Vice President Business Insurance, Travelers Companies
“I grew up in the Greater Hartford area and have worked here for over 20 years. Although the program is designed for newcomers, I came away with a greater appreciation of what Hartford offers and for the people making it happen. The pride and joy on the faces of the children at the Artists Collective will stay with me forever. I never would have been exposed to that without this program.”
Mark Lukas, Director of Advertising - Key Accounts, Hartford Courant
“The program opened my eyes to collaborative opportunities with individuals and organizations. The sessions are brilliantly planned - like puzzle pieces that reveal limitless possibilities for life and work in Greater Hartford.”
Sally Whipple, Director of Education & Community Programs, Old State House
“The Executive Orientation Program is a great way to be introduced to Hartford. I recommend it to newcomers as well as executives new to their roles. I met wonderful people and made new contacts!”
Nancy Meyer, Vice President of Advertising, Hartford Courant
