2011 Class Projects
Each year the Quest class selects collaborative taskforce projects that address pressing community needs. Below is a list of the projects undertaken by the 2011 Class.
Camp Courant Junior Leadership Edition
This taskforce worked on developing and implementing a Leadership Greater Hartford program model for the Junior Leaders of Camp Courant. The project included creating program modules in the areas of life skills, personal finances, career counseling, and community services.
Leadership Greater Hartford/True Colors Zanna Don’t!
This taskforce was the “production team” for the musical, Zanna Don’t! This project used the arts as a framework to create awareness and understanding of the bullying issues facing Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Questioning (LGBTQ) youth today. The musical, and facilitated “talk back” session, was performed three times at Hartford Public High School. The performances garnered local, national and international attentionas a result of focusing on this topic.
YWCA/Covenant Preparatory School Art for Social Justice
This taskforce marketed and implemented social justice art workshops and exhibits of students at Covenant Preparatory School and the YWCA’s Young Women’s Leadership Program. The workshops and exhibits were a collaborative effort between students, teachers and community artists, using the visual arts to promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity. The project sought to spark conversations across all races, raise awareness and inspire positive action in the community.

Cover2011_Page_01.jpg)
This taskforce created, marketed, and implemented a resource manual for economically disadvantaged fathers and professionals who work with them. The guide focused on positive father-child attachment, parenting skills, parental involvement, financial literacy, and information on educational and employment opportunities. The goal of the project is to help fathers access the services they need, allowing them to be positive role models for their children. This in turn will lead to healthy children who become secure adults who will contribute to the community in a positive way. Click the brochure to the right to access the English or Spanish version.
